Alex Bruce and David Nugent have been selected by the fans to complete PNE’s ‘Fans’ All-time XI’ team.
The duo topped the poll – which received more votes than any of the others run by the Club over the course of the summer.
Nugent was the overwhelming choice by the North End fans with 21% of the vote going his way, Bruce receiving 15%.
Other contenders worthy of a mention are Alex Dawson and Jon Macken who finished with 11% of the vote each.
Current Leicester City striker Nugent – who scored on Tuesday night for the Foxes, played for the Lilywhites for two years between 2005 and 2007 before moving to Portsmouth for a fee of £6m.
During his time at Deepdale, Nugent scored 37 times and two months after his move, he made his England debut, scoring against Andorra.
Prior to that, the striker scored four times in 14 appearances as part of the England U21s setup.
Alex Bruce made his mark for Preston North End after moving from his home city of Dundee to sign for the Lilywhites in 1970.
After a short spell at Newcastle United, he returned to his spiritual home where he went on to become the club’s top scorer in five of the next six seasons from 1975 onwards.
When Bruce’s time at Deepdale came to an end, he had amassed 157 goals in 363 matches – not a far cry from the great Sir Tom Finney’s record.
