Futsal Scholarship Information

19 August 2013

Thursday 22nd August represents a massive day for teenagers up and down the country as they finally find out their GCSE results.

And PNE have a vested interest in their grades as applicants for the Club’s Futsal Scholarships will discover whether they’ve done enough, academically, to be accepted.

The basic requirements for the course are four GCSEs at grades A to C, including Maths and English.

Played on a hard indoor surface, futsal helped develop the talents of stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionwl Messi and Neymar!

PNE’s programme is based around ten hours of academic, practical study and a minimum of five hours game-related coaching as well as strength and conditioning work.

The scholarship is open to young adults, aged 16 to 17, and gives participants the qualifications they need to apply for university.

On results day, applicants can check whether they have been accepted onto the course, while others can sign up for the programme through clearing – even if they are yet to apply!

Those who are accepted will get the chance to represent Preston North End in league and cup fixtures, play in futsal festivals across the country and, if the side are successful, in European competition.

They will attend every PNE home fixture, get introduced to the crowd at Deepdale and feature in the Club’s matchday programme.

While with North End, students will complete the same course as the Club’s scholars and get kitted out in full Preston gear.
