Paul Huntington was more than happy to lose a tooth in last night’s goal celebration as North End beat Blackpool at Deepdale.
The central defender couldn’t contain his joy as he tried to jump on the back of goal hero Tom Clarke – before cracking his head on the back of the PNE no.5’s, leading to one of his front dentures flying out!
In an interview with PNE.Com following the match, Huntington said: “I was trying to get on Clarky’s back to celebrate and he wouldn’t stop running, suddenly he stopped and flicked his head back and my head goes straight into the back of his and there is my false tooth out from last season.
“I got it back in the end so that will have to go back in.
“I’m actually going in to the dentist on Wednesday, how much of a coincidence is that?
“I know the whole thing was captured by Sky Sports, so I could very well be a YouTube sensation.
"They actually asked to speak to me after the game but I decided not to, especially with it being a front tooth!
“It’s a false tooth so I have a denture that I can slide in tomorrow so you won’t even know it’s missing.
“I’m sure the Club will sort me out again so if Kevin Abbott (Executive Finance Director) is reading this, your help is gratefully appreciated!”
Huntington and his teammates were more than able to smile following the match, after Clarke’s late strike gave the Lilywhites a momentous victory, to send their fiercest rivals spinning out of the Capital One Cup.
Discussing the match, Hunts added: I loved that game and it was a superb result, the second-half was very open, it was a great cup tie.
I was just delighted for the fans to win, I know what it means to them, a lot of them talk about it and Saturday was a great atmosphere and again tonight.
“I really enjoyed it and it was great to get the win.”
