First half goals from Stuart Beavon and Bailey Wright gave John Dreyer's men the win at Deepdale.

Beavon opened the scoring on 19 minutes, firing low into the bottom left hand corner from just outside the box.

Bailey Wright doubled the scoring just after the half hour mark, poking home from close range after Nicky Wroe’s left wing cross was not cleared by the Cherries defence.

The first half was like a whirlwind, the fans were full of voice and North End played on the front foot driving forward and creating opportunities.

Caretaker boss John Dreyer had made six changes from the side proved to be Graham Westley’s last selection for North End, Jack King partnering Stuart Beavon in attack and Nicky Wroe restored to the midfield.

There was a fantastic atmosphere inside Deepdale pre-match with the volume turned up by the fans on a mild afternoon.

Whilst the last half hour of the first period was one way, the visitors probably started the stronger of the two sides, the first corner won by Eddie Howe’s men on six minutes; Bailey Wright cleared for a second and Brett Pitman put over an inswinger from left in front of Town End, but, as with the rest of the half, Declan Rudd was not needed to make a save.

North End started to control the proceedings on the quarter hour mark. Good build up play with Lee Holmes’ tenacity at the heart of it setting up John Welsh for a chance to shoot at goal just over the bar from 25 yards.

This battling spirit was a sign of what was to come as North End were first to the ball and winning the 50-50s in the first half. The first PNE corner was won by Beavon on the right, after good play out from the back. An inswinger from Lee Holmes was cleared but North End were now in the ascendency and it was no surprise when the deadlock was broken.

The first goal for North End was a superb team goal. The ball won in the centre of the midfield, played through Bournemouth, ending with a back heel from Jack King setting up Stuart Beavon to fire low into the bottom left hand corner from the edge of the ‘D’ on 19 minutes.

Four minutes later another great chance came for North End on the break; David Buchanan – back in the left back role – fed Beavon on the left, this time his back heel gave the ball back to the full back, his cross found Lee Holmes at the back post, but his right foot shot was saved by Jalal.

Moments later Beavon again drove at the Cherries defence, played the ball to Nicky Wroe, but the ball bobbled and Jalal saved at second attempt from his low shot.

But North End continued to press and on 31 minutes the Lilywhites doubled their lead after Stuart Beavon had won a free kick on the left hand corner of the box with a brilliant turn.

Nicky Wroe put the ball over towards Jack King and a scramble ensued with Bailey Wright smashing the ball home from a couple of yards out.

Will Hayhurst almost started the second half with his first goal for the Club as King raced clear, laid the ball left to Beavon, who in turned laid it off to Hayhurst, but half-time substitute Fogden made a superb block to deny the youngster.

Stuart Beavon followed this up by bringing the best out of Jalal from 25 yards with a low pile-driver from a right hand channel.

The visitors pushed three men up front, making all their changes before the hour mark, but Declan Rudd was rarely called into action and North End brilliantly worked to keep the ball and hold on for the first three points at Deepdale of 2013.
