Broughton’s U13s girls six-a-side played at Turf Moor in the North West regional final.
But the opening result proved to be crucial, with the group winners only advancing, and it was North End’s Lancashire neighbours Rovers progressing to the knock out round by a single point.
However, despite the opening result going against them, North End continued to play in the correct manner and convincingly beat Fleetwood Town, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers and Burnley in their next four games.
Broughton dominated proceedings; however two goals from the run of play saw Rovers walk away winners.
Their first match was against unbeaten Blackburn Rovers, who had beat North End in a previous final.
The U13 side, represented the Lilywhites, competed against a number of tough opposition from all over the region.
