All-time Left Wing Battle Continues

12 July 2013

Eddie Lewis and David Eyres are locking horns as the debate to decide PNE’s All-time greatest left winger draws to a close.

The duo have commanded the poll so far, making up more than 65% of the votes, meaning every selection from you - the fans - matters ahead of Sunday’s deadline!

Whoever wins the competition will take their place on the opposite flank to Club legend Sir Tom Finney and also join Alan Kelly Snr, Graham Alexander, Joe Marston, Mark Lawrenson and Ryan Kidd in the select XI.

Lewis enjoyed a fruitful three years at Deepdale, during which he made over 100 appearances and scored 15 goals.

The Californian earned over 80 caps for his native USA, being selected for both the 2002 and 2006 World Cups in South Korea, Japan and Germany respectfully.

Liverpool-lad Eyres, meanwhile, played 133 times for PNE – striking fear into opposition full backs with his all-action attitude on the flanks.

He was part of David Moyes’ Second Division championship winning side and scored a memorable goal against arch rivals Blackpool with a peachy effort at Deepdale.

Other candidates for the left wing slot include Irishman Kevin Kilbane, Ian Bryson and Bobby Langdon – but no one is guaranteed a place in the Club’s All-time team without your vote!

So, to register your selection, simply reply to the post on Facebook, or alternatively on Twitter name your selection followed by the ‘hashtag’ of #PNEXI.

You can also email your vote to media@pne.com.
