Preston North End has been given a bye into the second round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
The first round draw – to be made live on Sky Sports’ Soccer AM show on 17th August, will see eight sides from the Northern Section – West paired with each other.
However, the Lilywhites, along with Carlisle United, Morecambe, Rochdale, Chesterfield, Mansfield Town, Rotherham United and York City have all been given exemptions until the second round.
In recent years, PNE have performed well in the JPT and will be looking for another impressive performance this campaign.
First round ties will be played during the week commencing 2nd September.
