Open Training Day: With Gallery

26 July 2013

PNE hosted a successful open training day on Thursday as the players were put through their paces at Deepdale.

Just under 1,000 fans turned up to witness the first team’s final preparations before their last two pre-season fixtures of the summer, with Simon Grayson and his backroom staff barking out orders from the sidelines.

Following the session, fans met the players and had the chance to get their PNE memorabilia signed by their heroes.

Deepdale’s brand new Family Room facility, on the Sir Tom Finney North concourse, was in full swing with younger fans being entertained throughout the event.

And the manager was delighted with how the day had panned out, saying: “We’ve had a good day this morning with the open day, we had about 800 people there so that’s good for the supporters to see the players train on the pitch, sign autographs which is part and parcel of what footballers should do.”

With competitive action just over a week away, Grayson credited the high attendance at the training session to the buzz around the new season.

He said: “There’s been a good turnout, there’s an anticipation and excitement about the new season ahead for the football club.”
