Wright Reckons Lads Look Sharp

5 July 2013

PNE defender Bailey Wright claims the first team squad have returned to pre-season training in impeccable condition, following their short summer recess.

The Australian centre half established himself as a regular starter for North End in 2012/13, making 41 appearances and etching his name as a firm fans’ favourite.

Now, Preston’s new No. 6 is excited at the prospect of a successful 2013/14 campaign and was pleased to see his teammates return from a relaxing summer break in such good nick.

“It’s been good, all the lads have looked after themselves over the summer and come back looking good and sharp,” Wright told PNE.Com.

“The lads have been good and the new boys have come in and been spot on, everyone’s making them feel welcome.

“They’re slotting straight in and feeling like part of the team straight away, no problem.

“It’s been hard work but the focus is to get us as fit as possible for the new season.”

Meanwhile, the Club’s academy graduate admitted he is looking forward to a hectic pre-season schedule, starting with the visit of Brendan Rodger’s star studded Liverpool side.

However, he insists the result is not the be all and end all of the match as the PNE squad fight to get their bodies in perfect shape, ready for the start of competitive play.

He added: “Our first friendly is a massive one against Liverpool so it’s going to be a tough game, as is every pre-season game when you’re getting yourself fit.

“As much as you want to win the games, it’s about fitness as well so we’ll go to the Liverpool game and make sure we’re ready for that.

“The season’s not too far away. When you’re away on your holidays it feels so far away but when you get back here time really flies.”
