Alan Kelly Snr Voted Fans’ XI Goalkeeper

10 June 2013

In our poll to select the greatest North End team of all time, Alan Kelly Snr has been chosen as the greatest player to have ever kept goal for the Lilywhites.

The father of Preston’s current goalkeeping coach by the same name was the overwhelming favourite of the fans as he collected 49% of the votes.

Kelly Snr is one of the Republic of Ireland’s most acclaimed custodians and spent 13 seasons at Deepdale as a player before becoming the clubs assistant manager and then taking over at the helm.

He is so endeared at Preston North End that he even has his own stand, The Alan Kelly Town End.

Below are the results of the ‘Fans’ all-time XI’ goalkeeper poll as voted for over the last seven days:

Alan Kelly Snr 49%
Carlo Nash 18%
Fred Else 6%
Others 27%

This week, we go in search of the greatest ever Preston North End right back.

Once again there is a huge selection of talented, successful players to choose from and the decision is entirely up to you, the fans, so who will you choose?

Will the Deepdale penalty king Graham Alexander be your pick or will George Ross or Willie Cunningham edge him out as a trio of Scots battle for the title?

Another man who could be in line to be named the Lilywhites’ greatest right back is Gary Parkinson, the choice is yours!

To vote, simply reply to the post on Facebook, or alternatively on Twitter name your selection followed by the ‘hashtag’ of #PNEXI.
