All-time Centre Back Voting Ongoing

28 June 2013

Voting for PNE’s 'Fans' All-time XI' centre backs ends on Sunday, meaning fans have just two days to affect the standings.

Whoever wins the poll will join goalkeeping legend Alan Kelly Snr, penalty specialist Graham Alexander and tough-tackling full back Ryan Kidd to complete the side’s defensive unit.

A total of 18 candidates have been put forward for the honour so far - but only two will triumph - and it’s up to you, the fans, to decide who does!

So, will Tony Singleton get the knod at centre half, after all he did make over 300 appearances for PNE and faced the likes of Brazil legend Pele in his career?

Or, will Australian legend Joe Marston get your vote instead? The ex-Lilywhites defender could play anywhere across the back line and made a massive impact on the Club in his short time in England.

Lancashire-lad Mark Lawrenson is also a worthy contender. The former Republic of Ireland international treated PNE to the early stages of his glittering career.

Meanwhile, no-nonsense Glaswegian David Moyes needs more votes if he’s to make the All-time XI side.

The current Manchester United manager was part of a relatively successful contemporary period at Deepdale, winning the Third Division title with the Lilywhites in the 1995/96 campaign.

Defensive stalwart Bill Shankly is also surely in with a shout. The late Scot won the 1938 FA Cup with PNE and even has a stand named after him at the ground – the Bill Shankly Kop.

To vote, simply reply to the post on Facebook, or alternatively name your selection followed by the ‘hashtag’ of #PNEXI on Twitter.

You can also email your choice to media@pne.com so get voting now!
