‘Grezza’ Voted 'All-time XI’ Right Back

17 June 2013

Graham Alexander has been voted as PNE’s greatest ever right back, receiving a staggering 77% of the votes on his way to becoming the second instalment of the ‘Fans’ All-time XI’.

‘Grezza’ joined Alan Kelly Snr in the side after dominating a week’s worth of competition, with his nearest rival collecting just 10% of the votes.

The current Fleetwood Town manager enjoyed a stellar North End career over two spells at the Club, from 1999-2007 and 2011-2012, making 421 first team appearances and scoring a respectable 65 goals from the full back position.

The former Scotland international was well-known for his spot-kick steel and valiant defensive attributes, eventually transferring his wealth of knowledge to the Lilywhites academy when he was appointed Head of Youth in June 2012.

Below are the results of the ‘Fans’ All-time XI’ right back poll as voted for over the past seven days:

Graham Alexander 77%
Willie Cunningham 10%
Other 13%

This week voting begins for PNE’s greatest ever left back and, once again, it’s up to you, the fans, to decide who will win the poll.

Will Francis Burns be crowned as the best left back of all time, or can Preston-born Andy McAteer oust the Scot and take his place in the side?

Jim McNab will also be in with a shout having made over 220 league appearances for North End in a seven year stint at the Club, while Jimmy Smith and John Ritchie will no doubt play a big part in the voting.
