Striker Joe Garner believes that he scored the winner in PNE’s victory over Notts County.
Video evidence clearly shows the North End No.14 getting his head to Will Hayhurst’s cross, before the ball hit Magpies defender Haydn Hollis and crossed the line.
Speaking exclusively to PNE.Com after the match he said: “I’ve been given worse ones than that and I did head it.
“The cross from Will was a good one and I headed it towards goal before it hit their defender and went in.
“I am definitely claiming that as my first goal for Preston North End and I am hoping it’s the first of many.”
North End has officially requested the goal be given to Garner by the Football League and the final decision will be made by the dubious goals panel.
