The North End Gentry were in full voice at Griffin Park on Saturday and after the game everyone had positive things to say about the PNE fans.
The Club received a wonderful email from a Brentford fan subsequent to the match, full of praise for the great backing, it read: “A word about your fans - magnificent - I've been going to Brentford since the 50's though only occasionally now - a load of your fans got on our train at Putney - there were one or two anxious looks - but within about 30 seconds everyone was smiling - there was on old guy 60 to 70 - same as me - sitting there in a Brentford shirt and a young PNE fan said ‘Ah - Brentford fan’ - put his arm round him, sat down, and they chatted away happily for the rest of the journey.
“That's the way it should be. PNE fans great throughout the game – ‘Gentry’ is right - sorry you lost (not really of course), extra-time penalty cruel, though Brentford the better side, Declan Rudd man of the match for me - and of course we want the Bees to go up - automatically if possible. Hope PNE are okay too - thanks and all the best.”
The North End players and management were also delighted to see and hear the 818 packed into the away end. Speaking to PNE Player, manager Simon Grayson said: "They were magnificent. There was a great vocal backing for the team and hopefully they can be proud of what the players did and the players can be proud of what the supporters did."
Whilst goalkeeper Declan Rudd described the following as being like a home game. He told the Club's online TV and radio channel: "I thought we were at home for the first half.
“The crowd were unbelievable. They are very direct and it was never going to be a pretty game of football, but the fans were brilliant and spurred us on."
