Manager Simon Grayson has made his first signing of the summer, completing a deal for defender Tom Clarke.
The 25-year-old will sign a two-year deal from July 1st after ending a 17-year association with Huddersfield Town.
The Halifax-born former England U19 man can play at right back, centre half or even operate in the midfield and becomes the manager’s first recruit since arriving at the Club.
Speaking about his new acquisition, the manager said: “Tom is a defender who likes to defend. He is a versatile player and is a really good player to have around. I was very impressed by what I saw of him at Huddersfield and thought he would suit us.
“You get a player who is 100 per cent committed, he loves to tackle, to head the ball and hopefully he will compete for a place and contribute to plenty of clean sheets next season.”
Meanwhile, Clarke was delighted to able to get his future sorted so early in the summer: “When I heard the manager interested I just wanted to get it done and now I can’t wait to get started.
“It is a pleasure to train with the gaffer, he gets us working hard and with the promotions he has under his belt, it shows he is a good manager and I am looking forward to being part of the squad at Preston.”
