PNE Boast Strong Away Following

14 May 2013

A recent statistical analysis shows PNE have one of the best away followings in League One, with an average of 886 fans making the trip to each away fixture in the 2012/13 season.

The figures reflect a strong Preston presence at most other grounds, with 12.5% of attendees at away matches being North End fans.

The total number of PNE followers travelling to away games was 18,616 – 49% higher than the amount of visitors to Deepdale.

One particularly large following was at Bury’s Gigg Lane in September, where over half of the crowd in attendance were North End faithful.

That is in stark contrast to Hartlepool United, who brought a lowly 103 fans to Deepdale in the same month, making up just 1.3% of the total attendance for PNE’s five-nil demolition job.

The highest away total for a visiting team was 2,072 - courtesy of Sheffield United in October - with Blades fans contributing just under a fifth of the overall attendance for their one goal victory at Deepdale.
