North End’s Will Hayhurst has been called up to the Republic Of Ireland U19s squad.
The young winger will represent Ireland in the Elite Round of their UEFA U19 Championship qualifying campaign which will be held in Serbia.
The Irish youngsters will come up against their hosts, along with Slovakia and Switzerland in this stage of the tournament which sees them play three games between the 5th and 12th of June.
Hayhurst has represented the land of his grandmothers birth once before at U17 level against Italy and he spoke to PNE.Com about his latest call up.
“I am looking forward to it a lot,” said Will when asked about the trip to Serbia.
“It is a good opportunity to go and experience something new in football and I think it will also help me to be fit to come back for Preston.
“As you play against lots of different players and lots of different cultures, that will benefit me, so I am looking forward to it and hopefully I can get some game time.”
