Gray: “We Are Buzzing”

13 November 2013

Northern Irish right back George Gray was a part of the Academy’s five star display to notch their second consecutive high-scoring Cup win at Deepdale.

The defender is already looking ahead to the next round and a chance to test himself, alongside his team-mates, against the country’s best – last year’s FA Youth Cup winner Norwich City.

“We are just looking forward to the next round now against Norwich!” The 17-year-old told PNE.Com after the win over York.

“We will look to play well and get the result. We are buzzing for it and we just want to repeat what we have done at Deepdale so far and hopefully it will be our night again.”

Gray and fellow full back Nick Anderton impressed with their forward thinking play from their flanks and he felt the side deserved the outcome with their style of play and thought they had been inspired by playing at Deepdale once again.

“I thought we did well in the performance tonight,” he continued. “We haven’t been playing well at the weekends, which is our bread and butter, but tonight in the FA Cup we were motivated and got the performance we wanted.

“It’s something new and something to look forward to [playing at Deepdale]. It excites us and we just want to go out and play out there on that pitch.

“The build-up was excellent; the way we played, passed and moved – it created some good goals and that’s what we want.

“We like it when its slippery, because the ball slicks about and we can move it quickly and it shows what we are capable of.”
