LMA Award Won By PNE

21 November 2013

North End have won the LMA Performance of the Week Award for their away win against Leyton Orient on Saturday.

The League Managers Association five-man performance of the week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week, the LMA Performance of the Week Award should go to Preston North End following their excellent 1-0 victory in London against the O’s in Sky Bet League One.

Preston manager Simon Grayson will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to commemorate the award.

The Lilywhites won the fourteenth LMA Performance of the Week Award of the season for bringing Orient’s fantastic run at home to an end.

It was their first defeat at home since February.

After the match, Grayson was delighted with the result which followed a week of intense preparation.

“They did everything I asked them to do from the first thing on Monday morning to five o’clock at The Matchroom Stadium,” stated the gaffer.

“They had to put bodies on the line and they had to work hard for each other.”

It was a stunning performance and a brilliant 33rd minute goal from Joe Garner which earned the well-deserved victory.
