It’s Just Mo Good For PNE Stars

31 October 2013

A large chunk of North End’s first team squad will have something extra in their lives in November, a furry addition to their face!

Fourteen of Simon Grayson’s first team squad and a further five of the football staff will be taking up the Movember challenge and growing a moustache to raise money for men’s health charities during the month of November.

Teaming up with The Gent’s Room Barbershop, upstairs at Jo and Cass on Fishergate in Preston, the team are starting the month clean shaven and then increasing their usual facial hair efforts and you’ll be able to follow their efforts on the Club’s media outputs, via the official website, Facebook and Twitter.

The players taking part are: Thorsten Stuckmann, Keith Keane, Scott Laird, Tom Clarke, Bailey Wright, Chris Humphrey, Lee Holmes, Joel Byrom, Joe Garner, David Buchanan, John Welsh, Jack King, Declan Rudd, Iain Hume,; with staff Glynn Snodin, Adrian Lamb, Matt Jackson, Alistair Lishman and John Sumner also taking part.

Movember supports world class men’s health programmes that combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges.

These programmes, directed by the Movember Foundation, are focused on awareness and education, living with and beyond cancer, staying mentally healthy, living with and beyond mental illness and research to achieve our vision of an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health.

Speaking about the campaign, Scott Laird, who has been prime organiser amongst the squad, said: "It's a great cause and is also a bit of fun. It's great for camaraderie, even if a few in our dressing room can't join in as they're not growing facial hair yet!

"Hopefully people will support us all and sponsor us and we can raise a lot of money and raise awareness of some important issues."

If you would like to support the team with sponsorship, donation boxes will be placed in the Club’s ticket and retail store, the ticket office and in the Club’s office reception, but you can also do it online at the PNE and Gents Room’s dedicated page: http://mobro.co/pne-thegentsroombarbershop.
