PNE Women produced another impressive performance as they demolished Leeds 11-0 to progress into the next round of the Premier League Cup
Similar to the Penwortham game, Preston took an early lead.
Alison Taberner playing a through ball to Becky Grocott, who provided the finish to give Preston the lead inside four minutes.
Grocott was in action five minutes later as she dispossessed Lily Honors and was left with a one- on-one goal scoring opportunity, but Leeds goalkeeper Shannon McCarney produced a good save to keep the score at 1-0.
However McCarney was at fault for Preston’s second goal.
She spilled a shot from Sophie Jones into the path of Rebecca Foster and she applied the finish to make it 2-0.
Shortly before half-time Preston added a third through Gemma Watson, she received the ball on the left hand side of the area and fired in at the near post.
Stand in captain Jenna Carroll then got a goal on her return from injury as she headed in Jones’ corner to make it 4-0.
Three minutes later and Jones had a goal herself.
Melissa Ball floated a ball into the box and she met it with a volley that settled into the bottom corner.
Grocott added her second of the game in the 52nd minute as she headed in at the back post after Carroll set her up.
Another mistake by the Leeds goalkeeper allowed Foster to get her second of the game when her long range effort slipped through the hands of McCarney.
Ball made it 8-0 with a sublime finish from the edge of the area after latching on to Jones’ through ball.
The same player added another six minutes later with a free kick that floated into the top corner after she was fouled by former PNE defender Fiona Berry.
Preston scored their tenth goal of the game in the 76th minute with perhaps the best finish of the game as Taberner scored a free kick that went in off the bar.
Danielle Brown denied Leeds a goal late on when she produced a fantastic save at the back post before Carroll got her second of the game from Ball’s deep cross to make it 11-0.
The second resounding victory in eight days for the Lilywhites.
