Vote For Welsh And Wright

2 October 2013

There are just three days left to vote in the North West Football Awards, for which John Welsh and Bailey Wright have received nominations.

The North End duo have been placed on short lists for League One Player of the Year and Rising Star awards respectively – thanks to their outstanding performances last season.

BBC Football Focus presenter Dan Walker will host the awards, which will be decided with the help of an online poll via this link.

Club captain John Welsh made 42 appearances in his debut season for the Lilywhites, all-the-while gaining admiration from the North End fans for his never-say-die attitude and all-action performances.

The 29-year-old anchored the Preston midfield and acted as a shield in front of a determined back four, winning both PNE Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year for his efforts.

Meanwhile, defender Bailey Wright had a stand-out season in the heart of defence – forming an almost-impenetrable partnership with fellow centre half Paul Huntington.

The 21-year-old is a product of North End’s youth academy and has followed in the footsteps of Preston and Australia legend Joe Marston.

Wright made an impressive 41 appearances for the Lilywhites in 2012/13 and scored two goals, establishing himself as one of the premier centre backs in League One.

So, if you would like to see John Welsh and Bailey Wright get the recognition they deserve for such outstanding seasons with PNE, go to this link and vote for the duo now!

The poll closes at 5pm on Friday 4th October when judges will be presented with the top three players from each category and make their final decision on the winners.
