Jeffrey Joins U’s

12 September 2013

PNE winger Jeffrey Monakana has joined Colchester United on a loan deal until 12th October.

The tricky winger will join up with his new team-mates at The Weston Homes Community Stadium today, looking for a regular run games in a bid to force his way into North End manager Simon Grayson’s first team plans for the remainder of the season.

Monakana can be recalled by the Lilywhites after 28 days and has signed a youth loan agreement with Joe Dunne’s men.

The former Arsenal youngster has featured 49 times for PNE, his latest appearance being against MK Dons in a 2-2 draw in mid-August.

The North End No.17 joins fellow youngster Ben Davies and Graham Cummins on loan to York City and Rochdale respectively from the Club, in a bid to get some playing time under their belts.

Speaking about the move, North End manager Simon Grayson said: “Jeffrey is very much part of our first team plans here at Preston and this move will benefit him no end in terms of getting some match practice in before re-joining the squad.

"Jeffrey came to me and asked to go out on loan as he is currently behind a few other players in the pecking order and between us, we agreed that this was a sensible decision to make and one that suited both of us.

"It also shows that the player is willing to work hard to regain a place in the team which is pleasing.

“He is a very dynamic player and can win games on his own, but he needs to play more regularly and we are confident that the player, Colchester United and ourselves, will benefit from this move.”
