Calum Woods Pleased With Game Time And Three Points

26 December 2014

It was triple delight for Calum Woods after Preston North End marked his return to action with a victory and clean sheet.

Woods, who’s not played a competitive match since the 2-0 victory over Coventry in September was part of a side that recorded victory over Barnsley, with a Paul Gallagher penalty proving to be the match-winner.

Illness forced Scott Wiseman to miss out, leaving the summer recruit to fill the void, which he did comfortably helping Preston with the slender win.

And speaking to PNE Player after the final whistle, Woods hailed the team spirit of the side, in particular the back four after they recorded their 16th clean sheet of the season.

“There’s been quite a few changes in the back four this season, but we’ve got a good togetherness in this team,” declared Woods after the win.

“We had to make sure that we grinded the game out, got the goal and got the win.”

“I’ve had one or two setbacks but I’ve been working hard these past few months to get back.

“I’ve just made sure I was ready, and kept my fitness levels up – I’ve been doing a lot of work with the fitness coaches and I felt ready to play.”
