Gaffer Praises ‘Top Drawer’ Save

26 December 2014

Manager Simon Grayson heaped plaudits on Thorsten Stuckmann following his stunning last gasp save as North End beat Barnsley 1-0.

Stuckmann, who was well protected throughout the contest, earned his corn with a full stretch, one handed save to deny Conor Hourihane deep into stoppage time.

And Grayson praised the stopper for playing his part in the win.

“Overall we could have had a few more goals but you have got to have your discipline and your concentration right to the very end because Stucki has come up with an absolute top drawer save from their midfield player,” said the gaffer.

“It was something that we warned the players about because he [Conor Hourihane] has got a fantastic left foot and has scored many goals from distance, so he had to be alert and pull off the save when he needed to.

“So all-round it is a good win for us.”
