Kevin Davies: “It Wasn’t Quite Meant To Be”

28 December 2014

Kevin Davies says that it was a shock for North End to fall behind against Crewe Alexandra before fighting back to earn a point at Gresty Road.

The all yellow Lilywhites lay siege on the Alex goal in the second half, only for the hosts to steal a goal and subsequent point, Jermaine Beckford replying for North End with six minutes remaining in the match.

And Davies admits it was a bit of a head scratcher to work out how Preston only left Cheshire with a share of the spoils.

“I think we absolutely dominated; particularly in the second half,” stated Davies, in an exclusive interview with PNE Player following the game.

“We were right at it and they were hanging in there; defending for their lives; and for them to go and score was a bit of a shock to us all.

“They didn’t really have much play at all and caught us on the back foot a bit, but we kept going and knew the chances would come, and fortunately for us Becks (Jermaine Beckford) took one.

“We looked to push on to try and get that winner but it wasn’t quite meant to be today.”
