Simon Grayson Feels His Side Did Enough To Get Victory At Gresty Road

28 December 2014

Manager Simon Grayson believes his side did more than enough to get victory at Gresty Road and praised his side's character after going behind.

George Cooper put the hosts ahead before Jermaine Beckford put PNE back level just minutes later and speaking to PNE Player the gaffer insists his side should have won the game with their dominance throughout.

"I think when you look at the stats you'll realise how dominant we were but you only have to watch the game and you realise how dominant we were with posession, number of chances created, number of chances missed, there were very few oppportunities they had and it was one way traffic.

"Obviously we got the sucker punch of going one goal down but we responded with some great character and got a point out of the game where really it should have been three.

"The pitch was a bit difficult but both teams have to play, I thought we played well, we went long, we went short, we mixed it up and played some good stuff. You can't complain about the conditions, we played well enough, created chances, we had strikers going in to areas maybe at times that a little bit of composure from everybody in that final third, whether it's a cross, a pass or a finish could have got us over the line.

"But you can't complain really about how the players have performed and what they've done, we would have taken seven points out of the nine at the start of the Christmas period and full credit to the players for what they've done."
