North End boss Simon Grayson will think tactically and medically before selecting his side to face Crewe Alexandra in the Lilywhites’ final game of 2014.
On Boxing Day he was without Scott Wiseman and Kyel Reid with a virus and he will against check his squad to give everyone as long as possible to be available for selection at the Alexandra Stadium.
Speaking to PNE Player ahead of the trip to Cheshire he said: “We will wait as long as we can to see who is available to us. There has been a virus going round throughout the country, so we won’t be the only team who has been struggling.
“We had players who showed against Barnsley that they are ready. Some of them hadn’t played for some time, but didn’t let us down.
“We will analyse everybody, give ourselves every opportunity to find out who is ready to play, but we have some good options available to us.
“The sports science department will tell you that 48hours isn’t long enough for the body to recover and prepare properly to play again, so we have to be careful and make sure we prepare right and do everything we can to make sure the players are ready to go again.”
