Tile Mart Produce Stunning ‘The Splash’ Mosaic

9 December 2014

A mosaic produced by Tile Mart and donated to Preston North End is the latest tribute to have been produced in honour of the legendary Sir Tom Finney.

The tilled creation, situated in the Sir Tom Finney reception at Deepdale, was created by artisan craftsmen in Spain before being embedded into the wall in the reception area of the stand named after Preston’s greatest son.

The five metre wide mosaic has been created using 11,999 pieces and is a replica of ‘The Splash’ statue which is positioned outside the stadium.

For the project, a new ‘invisible’ grout from Kerakoll was used and this reflects the colour of the tile to give the mosaic a more vibrant look.

Speaking about the stunning piece of craftsmanship, Tile Mart Business Development Manager Luckman Ismail said: “We have always had a warm relationship with Sir Tom Finney and his family and he has
officially opened both our Preston and Bolton showrooms.

“As a company, we wanted to show our appreciation, in our own little way, for someone we know as the greatest ambassador of football.

“We are really grateful to PNE for accepting the mosaic panel and hope it brings fond memories of Sir Tom Finney.”
