Unseen Photographs Of Sir Tom Finney Required For Special Matchday Programme

18 December 2014

To coincide with the BBC and PNE’s partnership to commemorate the first anniversary of Sir Tom Finney’s passing, the Club want you, the fans’, unseen photographs.

Over the years, hundreds and thousands of images relating to the great Sir Tom Finney have been shared and viewed by millions around the world, so we wanted to see what hidden gems are still out there of Preston’s favourite son.

To do this, we are asking you to share with us, your treasured photographs of Sir Tom, as we put together a special additional edition of the Club’s award winning matchday programme The One And Only.

Do you have a picture of Tom fixing the plumbing in your house? Perhaps one exists of you having a chat with him in and around the city? Maybe you had someone take a picture of you both as he arrived at Deepdale ahead of a match?

These are the images we are looking for.

Images must be originals or high resolution versions, and everyone who allows us to use their photograph will be credited in the programme which will be produced for a fixture in February.

All photographs will be returned to you.

In addition, the Club has recently sent its 20,000th ‘tweet’ on social media.

A top ten countdown of tweets which have been ‘retweeted’ or ‘favourited’ in 2014 has shown that the image of the ‘Finney’ shirts worn against Leyton Orient at Deepdale is our most engaging tweet of the year.

Based on that, the Club will give away a match worn ‘Finney’ shirt from that day to the person who sends us what we think is the best unseen image of Sir Tom Finney for our match programme.

As mentioned previously, North End, North West Tonight and Radio Lancashire are coming together to remember Sir Tom with a series of events.

BBC North West Tonight and BBC Radio Lancashire want to hear your personal stories about meeting Sir Tom.

Many of us have a memory about seeing him, being in his company, or a conversation with the great man.

Your recollections are all part of our city and club's unique history - we really want to hear them.

The BBC will be using some of these in their reports and we as a Club will do the same.

There will be a special book in the reception at Deepdale soon where you can write your own memories about Sir Tom - this will be kept as a permanent reminder to his memory.

There will also be a confidential section where you can leave personal details if you're happy to be contacted by the BBC.

You can contact BBC North West Tonight and/or BBC Radio Lancashire directly in the following ways.
