Craig Davies Looks Forward To Game Time

31 January 2014

Preston North End loan signing Craig Davies is hoping to get some regular football at Deepdale following his loan move from Bolton Wanderers.

The striker has joined Simon Grayson’s squad on loan until the end of May and he can’t wait to get started for the Lilywhites.

In an exclusive interview with PNE.Com, Davies said: “I am looking forward to getting plenty of games under my belt.

“It has been a while since I played a few games in a row, so hopefully I can do that here.

“I have been a bit unfortunate the first part of the season through injury, but hopefully the second half of the season I can do really well and play a lot of games for Preston and help push for promotion.

“I just want to start playing football again and like I said in an interview last week, I just want to stay fit and work hard and do well to be honest.

“It is a bit frustrating not playing games, last week when I played against Cardiff in the cup and QPR, it brings it all back that playing is what you really want to do and be out there on the Saturday or Tuesday.

“You want to be preparing properly and you want to be a part of something and that is what I want to be.

“It is a chance to get lots of games under my belt.

“Last Saturday when I played it was crazy, because you can do as much running as you want, when I was injured we used to do a lot of running with the medical team, but it is completely different when you get out there on a Saturday.”

The Welsh international will team up with namesake and former teammate Kevin Davies at Preston, along with Scott Wiseman who he knows from his Barnsley days.

And despite only being a North End player for several months, he is very much hoping to come in and help the squad as they strive for promotion success.

“One of the things that attracted me to come here was the chance to have success,” added Davies.

I seen the league position, had a look, there was one or two teams interested, and I thought this was probably best for me.

“I am not moving home and it is only another 15, 20 minutes on to the trip in the morning so it is not too bad.

“It is not like I am unsettling myself by having to move and all that type of thing, I am just in the same place.”

Davies has shown the kind of character he is by coming to Deepdale, with the chance of regular matches for Grayson’s men, more appealing than sporadic appearances for the Trotters.

Talking about the move, the new PNE No.17 continued: “It has come as a little bit of a surprise but not really, because I spoke to the manager in late December and said it was probably bet if I went on loan to get some games because I hadn’t played for three months or so.

“It took a while and I want to play some games, get some goals and put in some good performances and go back for next season fighting fit.”
