Josh Has Feet On Ground

Young scholar Josh Brownhill spoke to The One And Only for the main interview for this Saturday’s matchday programme.

Young scholar Josh Brownhill spoke to The One And Only for the main interview for this Saturday’s matchday programme.

The midfielder has burst onto the first team scene with three goals in 14 appearances for the Lilywhites since mid-October, but says that his family are keeping him grounded.

Ahead of the visit of the Sky Blues he said he was not expecting to play every week and was just looking to improve his game.

“It was my aim at the start of the season to get involved with the first team as much as I could, and as soon as possible. But I couldn’t have imagined being where I am at this time so early, but I’m happy and I just know my hard work’s paying off at the moment,” he told the matchday programme.

“I remember I was in the gym and I was called over and they said you were training with the first team. I couldn’t believe it at first. I was shaking, and really nervous. I got in and to be fair to the boys, they were welcoming when I got into training and they made me feel comfortable.

“So I did what I did, played in a couple of reserve games which hopefully showed them what I could do, and I got the chance against Oldham and Crewe, which I thought I took.

“I know I’m not going to be playing every minute of every game. There will be some games I’ll play, and some games I’ll miss. When I do play I’ve just got to show what I can do, and show that the gaffer can trust me which I think he can, and to make sure that I keep my shirt, and when I do have a bad game, I’ve just got to make sure when I get the chance again I do as best as I can.

“I’ve got people around me who keep my feet on the ground and make sure I keep grounded. People like my family, the youth team staff, coaching staff, and the players, they all keep my feet on the ground which is important for me at the minute, because a lot of people can change, but I know I’ll still be the same person come the end of it.”
