Loan Round-up

2 January 2014

A week-by-week round-up of how North End’s loan players are doing at their current clubs.

League One

Nicky Wroe made an appearance from the Shrewsbury Town bench, coming on in the 72nd minute to help the Shrews see out a 2-1 victory over Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park.

Wroe; who was ineligible to face PNE on Sunday, will be looking to regain a starting spot in the heart of the Salop midfield between now and the end of his current loan deal.

John Mousinho is still recovering from his hamstring injury.

League Two

Shane Cansdell-Sherriff has broken his jaw and will be out of action for the foreseeable future with Burton Albion.

The Aussie received the injury in the 82nd minute of the Brewers 0-0 draw with Mansfield Town following an aerial collision, after playing 90 minutes and helping Burton to another cleansheet on Sunday in a 1-0 victory over Newport County.

Everyone at Preston North End would like to wish Shane a speedy recovery.

Ben Davies had an up and down few days with a win and a defeat for the Minstermen, playing 90 minutes in both games.

Sunday saw York City go down to a 2-1 defeat, but they claimed all three points on New Year’s Day with a win over Morecambe, Davies helping City to a cleansheet.

Irish striker Graham Cummins grabbed his third goal for the Dale in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers at Spotland.

The front man showed the Rovers central defensive pairing a clean set of heels before smashing his shot into the bottom left hand corner to wrap up the win.

Cummins was unable to help Rochdale however, as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat on Wednesday, although he did play another 90 minutes.

In that match against the Gas, Cummins came up against fellow loanee Chris Beardsley for the final 17 minutes; the former Stevenage man was unable to help his side back into the contest though.

And Beardsley suffered further frustration when Rovers’ match against Cheltenham Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
