Preston North End Loan Round-Up

24 January 2014

Your weekly round-up of how PNE’s loan players have been getting on in the last seven days.

League Two

Nicky Wroe was the match winner for Oxford United as the U’s grabbed three points against Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

Wroe showed his worth to their promotion cause with a stunning strike three minutes from time.

A cross from the right was teed up for Wroe on the edge of the area and the midfielder made no mistake with his shot, rifling his controlled volley into the far right hand corner of the net.

North End's top scorer from the 2012/13 season was ineligible for United’s midweek FA Cup replay defeat to Charlton Athletic.

Ben Davies and Chris Beardsley came up against each other as York city and Bristol Rovers fought out a 0-0 draw.

Davies played the full 90 minutes once again, helping the Minstermen to their second consecutive cleansheet, whilst Beardsley came on for the final half hour of the contest.

Graham Cummins was another to see some game time on Tuesday as Rochdale earned a dramatic point against Chesterfield at the Proact Stadium.

Cummins started the match, but made way for Peter Vincenti at half-time as the Dale scored twice in the final minute to snatch a 2-2 draw.

The Irishman was an unused substitute as Rochdale beat Plymouth Argyle 3-0 on Saturday.

Good news for Shane Cansdell-Sherriff, the Aussie defender has begun running following his triple cheekbone fracture and could return to light training with his Burton Albion team-mates as early as next week.
