Preston North End’s Will Hayhurst has joined Ben Davies on loan at Sky Bet League Two side York City.
The winger has signed for the Minstermen on a 28 day youth loan to gain some valuable first team action ahead of the Lilywhites’ league run-in over the next few months.
Hayhurst will team up at Bootham Crescent with fellow Preston loanee Ben Davies who has been a regular in Nigel Worthington’s starting XI.
The Republic of Ireland U21 international has made ten appearances for Preston this season, his most notable coming in his substitute performance against Port Vale when he won the Lilywhites a penalty to seal the three points.
Speaking of the move, manager Simon Grayson said: “Will is a player we think very highly off, but he has not played many first team minutes of late and we felt it was important to get him some regular game time ahead of the run in to the end of the season when our squad will be stretched to its limit.
“Competition for places is fierce and this move will help develop Will as a player and a person, as well as keeping him match fit for when he is called upon by us.
“I’m sure he will be a very useful acquisition for York City in the short term.”
Everyone at Preston North End would like to wish Will well during his loan spell.
