Boyhood Liverpool fan Alan Browne says that facing the Reds on Saturday was a great experience for all involved.
The Irish youngster is currently in the midst of his first pre-season campaign as a professional footballer, and the fixture against Liverpool was something he described as a ‘good test’ for the team.
“Personally, it was unbelievable for me to play against my boyhood Club,” said Browne in an exclusive interview with PNE Player.
“As a team, I thought it was a great experience and a great day for both teams involved.
“I thought it was a good test for us to see where we are compared to the top teams in the Premier League.
“I thought we did well and put it up to them in the first half and we managed to go a goal ahead.
“Obviously in the second half there was a few tired legs and they scored two late goals, and that is the difference in fitness levels as you can see.
“I think we need to work on that and that is what the gaffer is doing.”
