The Lilywhites kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 3-2 victory to win the Jack Kirkland Trophy against Chorley at Victory Park.
And the PNE first team coach was pleased to be back up and running.
Speaking exclusively to PNE.Com, Dreyer said: “You can get carried away often in these sort of games and bearing in mind it was our first game, our first run out for every player, you take it for what it is.
“You try and get as much out of it in a physical sense and I think to some extent we did.
“You are always disappointed when you look at the game and look at the goals we conceded, but in terms of a workout I think everybody played their part.”
