Looking At: Crewe Alexandra

21 July 2014

PNE.Com concludes its ‘Looking At’ series by putting Crewe Alexandra under the microscope.

Founded: 1877
Nickname: The Railwaymen
Stadium: Gresty Road
Manager: Steve Davis
Last Season: 19th in League One

Crewe Alexandra survived the threat of relegation on the final day of the 2013/14 season by beating Preston North End 2-1 at Gresty Road.

The Railwaymen simply needed to better Tranmere Rovers’ result to ensure their status in the third tier for at least another year.

Adam Dugdale and Mathias Pogba scored the goals as Steve Davis’ side earned their first home victory since February to keep their head above water.

Crewe start the 2014/15 League One season with a trip to newly promoted Fleetwood Town before hosting Barnsley at Gresty Road one week later.

The Alex will entertain Preston on Sunder 28th December and will head to Deepdale for the corresponding fixture in March.
