Looking At: Rochdale AFC

10 July 2014

We are taking an in-depth look at each of Preston North End’s opponents for the 2014/15 Sky Bet League One season and today’s focus is on Rochdale.

Founded: 1907
Nickname: The Dale
Stadium: Spotland
Manager: Keith Hill
Last Season: 3rd in League Two

Rochdale AFC will compete in Sky Bet League One in 2014/15 following a two-year absence from English football’s third tier.

Keith Hill led the Greater Manchester outfit to a third place finish in League Two, five points above the Play-Off places and just three behind champions Chesterfield.

The Dale’s Scott Hogan finished joint second in the division’s scoring charts after he fired 17 goals throughout the season, the same total as Plymouth Argyle’s Reuben Reid.

Rochdale’s 2014/15 campaign will begin with a difficult match against Johnstone’s Paint Trophy holders Peterborough United at Spotland Stadium.

Hill’s side will then host Preston North End in the first round of the Capital One Cup and then again in league action in November.

The Dale will make the trip to Deepdale for the corresponding fixture in April of next year.
