Preston North End Futsal Team To Host Open Friendly For New Recruits

7 July 2014

Preston North End’s futsal team is hosting an open friendly against Fleetwood Town for potential new recruits this Wednesday.

If you are interested in the indoor, 5-a-side version of the game, get down to PlayFootball in Preston, PR2 3TX, at 12pm on Wednesday afternoon to sample it first hand.

The Club’s programme, which is for school leavers, combines classroom education with on-pitch training and is considered an alternative to the traditional college experience.

Alongside the practical aspects of the scheme, students will work towards a BTEC Level Three Extended Diploma in Sport, equivalent to three A-levels.

Once students earn their qualifications, they will have the opportunity to continue with their sport education at university level, gain employment in coaching or at a similar sport and leisure capacity.

The programme is not just for elite football performers, but also for footballers of all abilities who have a real passion for the game.

Entry requirements, which are established by the Football League Trust Education and futsal programme, include having four A-C GCSEs, of which, two must be English and Maths, or a BTEC Level Two.

There will also be a parents’ evening on Wednesday at 7pm at the players’ lounge at Deepdale.

All of the Club’s community staff will be present so it represents the perfect opportunity for anyone who would like to find out a bit more about the course.
