Preston North End’s latest summer recruit says that a fellow Northern Irish international and former North End defender played a big part in his decision to sign.
Colin Murdock, who won the League One title with North End back in 2000, now has a player management company and representing Andy he helped sell the Lilywhites to his client.
“Turning up at the Club it took me a little bit by surprise; I didn’t realise how professional and well run the Club is,” said the 25-year-old forward.
“My agent Colin Murdock was here for six years and he spoke highly of the Club and promotion to the Championship is the aim and I am looking forward to hopefully achieving that this season.
“I’ve known about the opportunity for a couple of weeks now.
“I had other options and I took my time in making my decision, but I am delighted to get the deal done and can’t wait to get started.”
The international striker has spent all his career prior to the move north of the border with Glasgow Rangers and whilst it is tough to sever those ties after eight years, he is looking forward to a new challenge.
“I’ve spent all my career at Glasgow Rangers, eight years, and loved every minute of it,” he continued.
“Now I want show what I can do in England and Preston is the type of club that really attracted me, with the history and the ambition and I can’t wait to get going.”
