Looking At: Leyton Orient

26 June 2014

Russell Slade’s Leyton Orient head into the 2014/15 Sky Bet League One season on the back of Play-Off final disappointment.

Founded: 1881
Nickname: The O’s
Stadium: Matchroom Stadium
Manager: Russell Slade
Last Season: 3rd in League One (lost in Play-Off final)

The O’s 2013/14 campaign ended in Wembley heartache as they lost on penalties to Rotherham United after battling to a 2-2 draw.

First half strikes by Moses Obujabo and Dean Cox had given Orient a two goal lead over the Millers but an Alex Revell brace sent the match into extra time and a penalty shoot-out, which Steve Evans’ side eventually won.

The London outfit had started the season with eight consecutive league wins and did not suffer their first defeat until the end of October.

They remained at the top end of the table and secured a Play-Off place early but their hopes of automatic promotion were over when Brentford secured second spot in April.

Preston signed Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones earlier this month but the Matchroom Stadium side moved quickly to replace the 25-year-old.

They brought in Derby County shot-stopper Adam Legzdins to fill the void.

Next season, the O’s will host Preston on 6th September and make the trip to Deepdale in January,
