Preston North End will discover their opponents for the first round of the 2014/15 Capital One Cup on Tuesday 17th June when the draw is announced.
Last season, Simon Grayson’s side were pitted against rivals Blackpool in the opening stage of the tournament and Tom Clarke scored the winner in a famous 1-0 win at Deepdale.
The Lilywhites were then beaten at Turf Moor by eventual promotion winners Burnley in the second round, ending their assault on the competition early.
The cup was won in March by Manchester City, who earned their first piece of silverware of the 2013/14 season by beating surprise package Sunderland in the final at Wembley.
Liverpool loanee Fabio Borini opened the scoring for the Black Cats but goals from Samir Nasri, Yaya Toure and Jesus Navas ensured Manuel Pellegrini’s side were the victors.
The draw for the first round of next season’s competition comes the day before fixtures for the 2014/15 Football League campaign are announced - on Wednesday 18th June.
