The duo will put pen to paper on one year deals with an option for a further 12 months, having impressed at Academy level and while out on loan.

The youngsters will become members of Preston’s first team squad from the 1st of July 2014.

Speaking of the pair, North End manager Simon Grayson said: “It is nice that we have been able to give the opportunity to Nick Anderton and Jack Ryan to get professional contracts.

“They have showed what they are capable of doing, they have both went out on loan and they have earned that right to get a contract.

“Now the hard work starts for them, they have to get down to the nitty-gritty, it is a big step up from youth football to first team football, but what they have got to do is grasp the opportunity.

“Many young players have been released over the last few weeks and months and they are the fortunate ones that have got pro-contracts.

“I think a lot about them but they have got some work to do now.”

Ryan, 18, spent the latter part of the 2013/14 season at Stalybridge Celtic while Anderton, also 18, helped Chorley to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division title.

The striker and defender also played integral roles in North End’s U18s’ run to the third round of the FA Youth Cup, during which Ryan scored five goals.

The Club’s remaining second year scholars have been released and have the best wishes of Preston North End in their future endeavours.
