Gaffer Credits Rochdale Following Defeat

1 November 2014

Preston North End manager Simon Grayson admits that his side did not possess the quality of Rochdale on Saturday afternoon.

The Lilywhites’ eight game winning run came screeching to a halt as Dale ran out 3-0 winners at Spotland.

And Grayson conceded that the credit had to go to Keith Hill’s side.

Following the full time whistle, the manager said: “You get days like today when the opposition are better than you and that was the case today.

“We knew this was a tough game because they play with a purpose, an energy about them, a tempo, and that was basically the bottom line.

“They had more energy than us, they did the basics better than us, I thought they defended better than us, and won a lot more second balls than us.

“Unfortunately, when we needed to get back into it they got the goals at the right times so it’s disappointing, but it was always going to be the case that eventually we were going to come to a halt with our run.”
