Gaffer Praises Ability To Dig Deep

29 November 2014

Simon Grayson was delighted with his players for claiming three further away points after a dogged performance against Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

Preston scored at either end of the contest with Paul Huntington nodding home from a Paul Gallagher corner before the latter doubled North End’s advantage late on following clever play by Kevin Davies.

Yeovil finished with ten men following the straight red card shown to Ryan Inniss.

And Grayson was happy with the determined, professional clinic put on by his troops.

Speaking to PNE Player following the match, Grayson said: “We’d all love to be playing free flowing football with inter-linking passing and movement but sometimes you have just got to dig in there and do whatever is required to go and win a match and we have done that today.

“We have given them the respect that they fully deserve and we reiterated to the players before the game that this is a team that are not justifying how well they have played over the last few weeks and we knew we had to be at it.

“For large parts we were, we still felt we could do better, but we have won away from home at a difficult place which is obviously very pleasing for everybody.”
