Gallagher Reflects On FA Cup Memories As He Looks Ahead To Havant

7 November 2014

PNE's Paul Gallagher reminisces on FA Cup ties through his career and hopes the Lilywhites can progress into the second round of the competition.

The attacking midfielder has had plenty of experience in the Cup and know just how tough the games against lower league opposition can be but the No.12 hopes Monday can be the start of another winning streak for North End

"At Blackburn we got to the semi-final against Chelsea, we played at Old Trafford, we lost, it was hard to take. Then I played for Stoke against Tamworth and at Stoke and they got a 0-0 draw, you could see how much it meant to their fans and their players, it was like they had won the game.

"Then we had to go for a tricky tie away at Tamworth, we drew 1-1 and then we wont on penalties so it shows it is tough, they are tough places to go. The fans get right behind them, the pitches aren't usually the best, but it's the same for both teams.

"We managed to scrape through that night but hopefully we can go there in good stead and get back on winning ways as quick as possible and get through to the next round."
