Grayson Praises ‘Fantastic Team Performance’

22 November 2014

Simon Grayson was delighted with his charges as they bounced back in style to beat Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Callum Robinson scored the only goal of the absorbing contest after a lovely passing move involving Neil Kilkenny, Joe Garner and Chris Humphrey down the right, the latter delivering a cross on a plate for the Aston Villa loanee to tap home.

And from there North End defended superbly to keep the back door shut, Thorsten Stuckmann, making his first league start since Crawley Town away in 2013, recording a cleansheet.

And Grayson was full of praise for his players following the full-time whistle in his interview with PNE Player.

The gaffer said: “When you looked at this fixture today, you probably couldn’t get a much harder fixture, coming to the league leaders looking to bounce back from a defeat at Swindon last week, and we knew we had to be at it and we certainly were.

“We executed our game plan really well, we worked extremely hard and you have to do that, you have to match up against people and win your battles and maybe we have just gone away from that over the last couple of games which has resulted in defeats.

“Today was a fantastic team performance, some good individual performances, and obviously a great way to bounce back and get us back on track.”
