Preston North End Win LG Performance Of The Week Award

28 November 2014

Simon Grayson has collected the LG Performance Of The Week Award following his side’s victory at table topping Bristol City last Saturday.

The League Managers Association five man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week the newly sponsored and longstanding LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Preston North End following their excellent 1-0 away win against Bristol City in Sky Bet League One on 22 November 2014.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football, and they felt that North End were the deserving recipients of the accolade following a terrific away performance and victory.

North End went in front through Callum Robinson in the first half and had several opportunities to increase their lead throughout the match as Bristol City failed to really trouble goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann all afternoon; PNE defending superbly over the 90 minutes.

Grayson received a new specially commissioned trophy made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA partner, Thomas Lyte of London in a presentation to commemorate the award at Springfields on Friday morning.

Speaking to Peter Smith of Sky Sports about receiving recognition for the performance, Grayson said: “On behalf of everyone at Preston North End, I would like to thank the LMA and the sponsors LG for the award.

“It was a fantastic victory at Bristol City last week for us and we are delighted to have got the victory and this award.”

A full interview with the gaffer will be shown on Sky Sports Gillette Soccer Saturday this weekend.

Congratulations to Simon and the team on the award.
