Scott Laird Praises Squad’s Character

26 November 2014

Preston North End’s Scott Laird was pleased with the character and will to succeed shown at Boundary Park as PNE beat Oldham Athletic on Tuesday.

After a back and forth contest which finished 2-2 after 90 minutes; Laird himself netting North End’s opener, the all yellow Lilywhites edged out the Latics 10-9 on spot kicks to progress to the semi-final of the JPT Northern Area – goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann scoring the decisive penalty.

And Laird was pleased with the final outcome in a keenly fought match: “It was an entertaining match, I think everyone in the stadium got their money’s worth.

“It was a great first half by ourselves, we worked hard and closed them down, they play their football very well but we nullified them in the first half.

“In the second half, first 20 minutes, it was another story, but we hung in there, I thought we showed great character to get back in the game and then everyone was together for the penalties.”
